Saree Not Saree: India 2013

It's funny how time and distance change you, the roads you take don't always lead you home.

Temple Run

I spent the morning at a temple for SaiBaBa, a guru god figure in India. He is human, but believed to be the avatar of a God figure. Although he recently died, he served as a religious figure for both Hindus and Muslims throughout his life. We participated in an offering ceremony as well as a service with other devout Hindus. After this we got to serve lunch to all the people in the temple, since our stomachs were not ready for the spice of the food they prepared.

This truly was a morning of sensory discovery–barefoot we strolled around the temple three times inhaling the fumes of incense, placing fresh flowers on altars, and clapping along with the rhythms of each ceremony.
