It's funny how time and distance change you, the roads you take don't always lead you home.
Guess I really haven’t blogged in awhile, my apologies to the millions of people out there curious about my travels. I will separate my adventures into multiple posts to maximize the photos!
Friday was mild so it was spent in Chendanagar running errands, more importantly going to Vijeta, the grocery store, for snacks! Yes, I ate an entire tube of Pringles in one sitting (saree I’m not?).
Unfortunately, we saw a dead woman on a stretcher outside of a hospital. Her family stood around her with no effort to cover her up to the surrounding crowd. We walked through the proceedings not knowing what was occurring only to be confused and apologetic for our disruption.
After returning to Tagore, we spent time on the roof admiring the graffiti and hoping to tan our white skin. In India, white skin is coveted and most lotions actually have skin bleachers in them to make women more pale. It is quite an absurd thought until you realize we do the exact opposite in America.
That evening I went to Paaka, an open air space, where the owner allows visitors to do whatever they please. It is hard to explain, but you can stream movies, cook food, dance, anything really as long as you bring friends others will be there as well!
