It's funny how time and distance change you, the roads you take don't always lead you home.
Tonight, we celebrated as a unit of abroad students in India–Americans, Norwegians Iranians, OH MY! And that is just to name a few. Whether we were CIEE, SIP, AISF, or LMNOP, we came together to preform for the university student body at large. And yes, I made up that last one. There were traditional Indian performances, kuchipudi to sitar, Hindi jokes, Bollywood routines, slam poetry and some bluegrass. Priya rocked as the musical genius she is on both the tablah (drums) and sitar. Montana inspired the crowd with her slam poetry on India and dedication to her little host sister Tanvi. Keddy and I sat, snapping pictures, in the audience, amazed at the versatile talents of our compadres. There were a lot of laughs, a few tears, but an overall impressive night for the SIP community. After the final curtain, we gathered together under the transformed bike garage to eat and laugh about the craziness of this past semester.
The show opened with a YouTube video of the hosts doing a parody on a popular Bollywood song, All Is Well, from the movie “3 Idiots”. Check out the link here! Try and spot me in the big dance number…HINT: I am in the back!
